MacArthur JROTC Highlander Battalion Cadet Lieutenant Colonel Vanessa Bobbitt attended the 2026, American Legion Auxiliary Oklahoma (ALA OK) Girls State program May 24-29, 2026. Girls State is a premier program for young ladies across the state of Oklahoma. ALA OK Girls State is a patriotic, non-partisan government program that emphasizes God and County. During the program. To become Governor, a delegate must actively participate in party and government activities, declare their candidacy, campaign through speeches and voter outreach, and win the program wide election. Successful candidates are strong leaders, effective communicators, and actively involved throughout the program. The Governor of ALA Oklahoma Girls State is the highest elected state official and serves as the chief executive of the Girls State government. The Governor leads the executive branch, appoints cabinet members, signs or vetoes legislation, and represents the entire Girls State delegation." Cadet LTC Bobbitt thoroughly enjoyed the program, excited to apply the lessons and experiences she gained.
